Kanklės (zither - Lithuanian National Instrument)
About
Emilija is a professional classical musician who started studying the kanklės at the age of
nine in Lithuania. Emilija has been playing the kanklės for 14 years and has been awarded
the title of the National Laureate of Lithuania twice.
The kanklės is the Lithuanian National instrument, which remains relatively unknown to
many. However, Emilija is committed to present this unusual instrument to new audiences in
order to educate more people about the kanklės and promote the diversity of Lithuanian
culture.
Following the completion of her first-class degree in Music in London, Emilija has now
become a performer in the city. Her performances are characterized by skillful integration of
the traditional folk instrument, the kanklės, into diverse genres, including classical, pop, and
folk music.
