Classical Guitar

About

I’m from North Carolina but just finished living in Amsterdam for 4 years getting my Masters and Bachelors degrees in Classical Guitar. My teachers were Gabriel Bianco and Carlo Marchione. Before that I studied with Grammy award winning guitarist Jason Vieaux at Cleveland Institute of Music. Despite my classical training I also play jazz guitar as well and am interested in improvisation. I have played with many jazz combos and big bands as well as playing solo classical and jazz guitar.

Music

My classical program consists of:

Divertissemens de Haydn - Francois de Fossa

Shard - Elliot Carter

Sonata para guitarra- Roberto Sierra

Sonata op. 47- Alberto Ginastera

Etude no. 8- Giulio Regondi

This program is what I played for my final Masters Recital where I received a 9.5/10 and graduated with honors.

I also did my masters thesis on improvisation in classical music. I tend to improvise freely in the style of swing, bebop, and free jazz. This also transitions into contemporary classical improvisation in the style of Elliot Carter or Alberto Ginastera.

The jazz tunes I know are the following:
Stella by Starlight
Four
Four on Six
Scrapple from the Apple
Donna Lee
Caravan
All the things you are
All of me
And more
