About
I currently teach at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore where I work with 16 students ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates. The cornerstone of my playing lies in chamber music. I direct and perform in icarus Quartet, a two piano/two percussion group as well as a nonprofit organization. iQ has been invaluable to my mission as an artist, working with imaginative composers, educating students, and always aspiring for artistic excellence, winning the Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition for Emerging Professional Ensembles in 2019. I’m also a member of The Percussion Collective, with whom I played Garth Neustadter’s Seaborne for a live broadcast on WQXR’s Midday Masterpieces and appeared as with as concerto soloists for Chris Theofanidis’ Drum Circles with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the baton of JoAnn Falletta in March 2022. I endorse Pearl Drums/Adams Instruments, Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, and Vic Firth Sticks/Mallets.
Music
I play all kinds of music ranging from Bach to world premieres by today's brightest composers. Friends and favorites include Michael Laurello, Amy Beth Kirsten, Robert Honstein, Katie Balch, Viet Cuong, and Thomas Kotcheff to name a few. I like repertoire that draws in the listener through compelling sounds, grooves, and architecture, sharing common threads with indie and mainstream musical vernaculars.
