Bergamot Quartet
String Quartet
About
Bergamot Quartet (Ledah Finck and Sarah Thomas, violins; Amy Tan, viola; Irene Han, cello) explores and advocates for the music of living composers, continually expanding the limits of the string quartet’s rich tradition in western music. While questioning the existing frameworks of classical music making, they place this new, genre-bending music in meaningful dialogue with the histories that precede it. Bergamot was Graduate Quartet in Residence at the Mannes School of Music 2020-2022, and met as masters students at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.
Music
Contemporary classical - we play the music we think is important for the evolution of classical music, by composers such as Caroline Shaw, Dan Trueman, Jessie Montgomery, etc, in addition to 20th-century classics like Ligeti and Lachenmann.
