About

Louis Arques is a freelance musician (clarinets, saxophones, voice) recently established in New York City.
He performs Classical music with the String Orchestra of Brooklyn, the Mannes Orchestra and chamber ensembles in various venues (Lincoln Center, Carnegie). He is really involved in New Music and creation, collaborating with Elizabeth Hoffman (composer) and the Mannes American Composer Ensemble. He also plays on Von Vittorelli’s replicas of XVIIIth century’s instruments.
Louis also plays Afro-Cuban and Jazz music with big bands and small combos in clubs and restaurants. He founded a Brazilian Choro duet with the guitarist/composer Richard Boukas. He sometimes sings and plays at Birdland in the Jim Caruso’s show.
He is also giving urban performances (Central Park, Times Square) alone or with a the band CPT (clarinet, voices, guitar, drums-originals and covers).
He is passionate by transmission and has taught for ten years in French Music Schools such as Paris Conservatoire.

Music

Louis plays the clarinet repertoire since early pieces from 18th century on historical instruments to new music and creations. He plays clarinets and saxophones and sing: solo, in chamber groups, bands and orchestras. He plays classical music, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, French folk music... He loves to meet new performers, improvising, doing crossovers with other art forms and particularly urban art.
