About

With chamber music as her general modus operandi, Bay Area violinist Erica Ward has a special passion for the works of Beethoven, especially the Complete Beethoven Sonatas for Piano and Violin.

As a direct reflection of her love of collaborative music making, and her desire to build a lasting future for music and youth, Erica founded the Alameda String Academy in 2013. The Alameda String Academy teaches the stringed instruments with a particular focus on chamber music to children and adults in the East Bay. The faculty ensemble gives a number of creatively curated concerts (in formal and informal settings) each year.

A native of Portland, Oregon, Erica received her BM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and her MM from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where her principal teachers were Camilla Wicks, Wei He, and Paul Kantor. She resides in Alameda with her husband, two young daughters, and fluffy white dog, Ollie.
