Kallie Ciechomski - viola

I do a lot of solo classical music, but my specialty recently has been contemporary music - specifically performing recitals that use viola works written in my lifetime to engage new listeners in what can often be a difficult genre.

These days, my repertoire features solo unaccompanied works for viola that have all been written in my lifetime, with an emphasis on composers who are women. Comprised entirely of pieces under 10 minutes long, these pieces aim to be very accessible and span pop, classical, avant grade, and improvisational styles. One piece in particular is a feminist counterpoint to the male-dominated classical world, and unfolds itself to depict a female orgasm.

I'm really into performing solo Bach, improvising, working with artists from other mediums, and curating unique programs that fit the space/particular audience interests.
