What's the music?
NYC-based violist Kallie Ciechomski continues her West Coast solo tour with an evening of viola works written by composers who are women.
The program features music by Joan Tower, Augusta Read Thomas, and Pauline Oliveros, plus an adaption of a 1,000 year old piece by Hildegard von Bingen. The centerpiece of this concert is a world premiere by Mariel Berger, which is a feminist counterpoint to the male-dominated classical world, and unfolds itself to depict a female orgasm.
