About
Boston-based violinist Dorisiya Yosifova is a passionate musician and a teacher. Her most significant performances include appearances with Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra, Jupiter Quartet in Oberlin Conservatory’s Winter Term Intensive, performing at Carnegie Hall as part of Oberlin Orchestra, and Le Poisson Rouge with the Next Festival for Emerging Artists. She has played as concertmaster and principal second violinist for several orchestras, including the Idyllwild Arts Academy, Eastern Music Festival, Round Top, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s orchestras. Dorisiya has also won various awards, including the Idyllwild Arts’ Concerto Competition, the Eastern MusicFestivals’ Award for Orchestral Excellence, and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Merit Scholarship. Most recently, Dorisiya was awarded first prize in the international competition “Best Mozart Performance” and second prize in “The Music of America” of the same “Great Composers Competition” series in their 2018 season.
In addition to performing, Dorisiya is also an enthusiastic educator. She is currently a violin/viola teacher at Youth and Family Enrichment Services at Hyde Park, MA and at Music & Arts in Newton, MA, in addition to maintaining a private studio. Dorisiya holds a Master’s of Music degree with honors from Boston Conservatory and a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory. Her primary instructors include Rictor Noren, Lynn Chang, Marilyn McDonald and Gregory Fulkerson.
