Haydn swaps out a violin for a flute in this charming quartet, op. 5, no.1. Ginastera’s Impresiones offers a completely different mood: Impresiones, Cancion, and Danza with Argentine flair. Anchoring this program we will play a lush flute quintet by Amy Beach, her Theme and Variations. Though she is not well-known today, Beach was an acclaimed and successful composer and pianist in her day, an era which spanned post Civil War America until 1944.
