Full program notes
This concert summarizes music I have written during a two-month residency at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico and which has been premiered for the most part at the Brooklyn Classical Guitar Society.
Historical context
My music is rooted in the classical and jazz traditions. Some people have said they can hear some Brahms. There is a strong influence of Villalobos, Scriabin and J.S. Bach. Keith Jarrett is a big influence as well as Bill Evans, coming from the jazz tradition. There are also elements of Flamenco from early repeated listening to masters such as CamarĂ³n. There is also some influence of Japanese music from having listened to Gagaku for a few years.
