Duo Explorations is an eclectic program that focuses on the vulnerability and improvisational spirit of Jazz. Duo Exploration shows consists of performing classic Jazz Standards in an impromptu and exploratory fashion. The goal of each performance is to start within the structure of the jazz standard and eventually venture beyond the song structure to wider sonic and textural plains. All Jazz standards are decided in the moment however each song will be introduced before or after it is played along with a brief explanation about the improvisation than just occurred.


Historical context

The Art of Jazz Duo is one of the most innovative and well respected improvisational approaches and Ensemble Configurations in all of Jazz History. Ranging from Coltrane and Duke Ellington's Duo to Tony Bennet and Bill Evans, Jazz Duo has allowed a multitude of artists to explore the sonic land in new ways. The innovation made through duos has always rippled through the Jazz community and inspired new ways improvisation and approach throughout all ensemble configurations.
