This program will feature new compositions by local Chicago composers Vicki Milewski, Laura Adkins, Amy Wurtz, Paul Scherer, and Adam Kennaugh. Each composer has written a piece engaging with the theme of New Beginnings with a variety of musical influences including neo-romanticism and French impressionism while also experimenting with contemporary compositional techniques. This program is an excellent opportunity to get to know some local composers you may have never encountered before in an accessible and exciting format!


Historical context

This program features newly composed works that stem from the classical tradition. As a classically trained pianist who specializes in 20th and 21st century compositions, I am always working to bridge the gap between old and new, presenting music that may be unfamiliar in a way that speaks to classical music lovers.
