Splendid news: For the second year running, The Dvořák American Heritage Association is organizing a Massivemuse at the stunning Bohemian National Hall.
DAHA exists to honor the immeasurably great cultural contributions the great Bohemian composer Antonín Dvořák made to our country during his years in America. And for the job they’ve enlisted the rising star Iskandar Widjaja - A Dutch/Arabic/Chinese/Indonesian virtuoso violinist and the great collaborative pianist Miki Aoki.
The centerpiece of the Massive will be Dvořák's Sonatina for Violin and Piano. A disarming piece that so captures the spirit of the American frontier, I swear it sounds like it could be the score to Old Yeller, and in the best possible way. But that’s not all — the program is packed and varied, with King J.S. Bach, the unjustly forgotten hero of the Norwegian Late-Romantic Christian Sinding, and works by contemporary masters Max Richter and Arvo Pärt.
Bring your own beer and your own blanket/floor cushion/yoga mat. Sit up close, right at the feet of these brilliant young artists. Bohemian National Hall, our host for the night, is uncommonly beautiful in the evening.
Let’s Massivemuse.
