In the young and bright life of Groupmuse DC, our community has yet to taste one of the sweetest fruits from the Groupmuse tree: The Massivemuse. But on May 18th, we're fixing to change that.
A Massivemuse is a scaled up groupmuse that's outgrown the living room. Just like our living room dreams, we're cozying up on the floor, beer in hand, digging into some deep jams - but the scope and expanse of the evening is a manifestation of the scope and expanse of the community we're building.
For the occasion, we’re calling on one of the most brilliant talents in our DC community: Christopher Schmitt. And how appropriate for our first-ever Massivemuse in our nation’s capital that Chris is a pianist in The President’s Own Marine Band. Yup — the President has his own pianist and that’s Chris Schmitt.
To lay on the Presidential theme even thicker, we’re throwing our first DC Massivemuse in the stunning Cleveland Abbe House, the historic mansion in which President Monroe lived while the White House was being restored after the War of 1812. It now houses the Arts Club of Washington, which is generously throwing its doors open to our community.
We’ll breathe life into this splendid chunk of history with a program of Titans. A sonata by Beethoven, Chopin Mazurkas, Rachmaninoff Etudes, and a Franz Liszt Transcendental Etude will make for a feast of sound.
Tickets are $20 (and $15 for supermusers) and we’ll have a cash bar. But space is not limitless, so if you want to join, join!
Can’t wait to see you there!
