    In the young and bright life of Groupmuse LA, our community has yet to taste one of the sweetest fruits from the Groupmuse tree: The Massivemuse. But on April 13th, we're fixing to change that.

    A Massivemuse is a scaled up groupmuse that's outgrown the living room. Just like our living room dreams, we're cozying up on the floor, beer in hand, digging into some deep jams - but the scope and expanse of the evening is a testament to the scope and expanse of the community we're building.

    We've had Massivemuses in Masonic Temples, rock climbing gyms, closed-down speak-easies -- even a floating food forest on a barge off a pier in Brooklyn. For this Friday night, we'll be gathering in percussion warehouse -- CalPercLA is throwing open its doors and throwing down the gauntlet.

    The first half will be an exquisite string quartet by Josef Haydn, the very creator of the string quartet. It'll be brought to us by the Canosa Quartet, hailing from The Colburn School -- one of the great conservatories in the world.

    The second half will be a foray into the wild world of contemporary classical music -- all percussion works brought to us by Jonathan Hepfer and the CalArts Percussion Ensemble: Xenakis and Takemitsu.

    It'll be an evening that spans over 250 years of this tradition it'll serve as a testament to what we're building for its future.

    Tickets are $20 (and $15 for supermusers) and it'll be BYOB, in true Groupmuse fashion.
