This will be our second Groupmuse, and I think we've figured things out. Come enjoy beautiful music and tasty beverage and scintillating conversation with strangers and friends underneath the Natty Boh sign in Brewers Hill in our row home. Lots of street parking and not terribly far (8 blocks) from Canton Square.
I'll have (Natty Boh) beer and wine and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and probably Orange Crushes because this is Baltimore. After the music everyone is welcome to converse on the roof deck until they feel like going home.
What's the music?
This scintillating program will feature music for solo violin, solo cello (aka It's All About That Bass), and violin-cello duo (it takes two to tango!) presented by a brother-sister duo that has performed in over 35 countries.
Tasting Notes on the Musical Menu:
-Variations on Themes by Georg Frederic Handel (definite notes of cacao nibs, leather, and red wine)
-Scottish Dance Suite for Two by Edward McGuire (a single malt scotch with strings attached)
-Inventions by Johann Sebastian Bach (a yogic balance of east and west, north and south, as each instrument performs an independent solo line that seemingly effortlessly balances as a counterpoint to the other)
-Select Movements from Cello Suites by Johann Sebastian (a reflection pool for meditation)
-Othmar by Maria Newman (an exploration of voices and colors, as told through a captivating fairy tale)
-Spanish Rhapsody by Jaroslav Vanacek (habanera, rumba, flamenco guitar, and pyrotechnics... 4 strings, 1 violin, no problem!)
