Come ~take a trip~ with Groupmuse into the surreal as we put on the wildest spectacle ever conceived: on Friday, July 31st, we are taking over the Muse in Bushwick for the performance of a psychedelic symphony featuring the Experiential Orchestra, conducted by James Blachly of the Sheep Island Ensemble, and an accompanying circus performance by the Muse Circus. Yep.
The piece is Hector Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique: set in an opium den, it will transfix and teleport you into the bizarre and tumultuous world of psychedelia. According to Leonard Bernstein, "Berlioz tells it like it is. You take a trip, you wind up screaming at your own funeral." That's all we'll say about that. We've got over sixty brilliant musicians coming together for the experience, and we're housing it in a 1000+ person capacity warehouse.
There will be drinks available for purchase, as well as mats and slouchy seating to drip into. Music begins at 8:30 pm. You simply cannot miss out on the highest capacity groupmuse in the admittedly short but nevertheless complete entirety of Groupmuse's history!
