This is a groupmuse

A live concert in a living room, backyard, or another intimate space. They're casual and friendly, hosted by community members.

Host

Pianist Arno Kristensen and Guitarist Thomas Blumberg will be presenting this Groupmuse performance as a part of a 2 week long tour of Northern, Central, and Southern California. 100% of collected donation will go towards fire relief for educators that lost their home in the Eaton fire.

The music being shared uses a lifetime of classical and jazz study as the foundation to explore folk melodies from each artist's ethno-cultural background.

What's the music?

This duo meets multiple times a week to workshop material, the program is constantly evolving

Perdrille - Arno Kristensen (Traditional French folk melody, Contemporary jazz)

Yaman Yar - Arno Kristensen (Traditional Armenian folk melody, Contemporary jazz)

Zichrono Livrakha - Thomas Blumberg (Traditional Yiddish folk melody, Contemporary jazz, Hymn)

House On A Hill - Thomas Blumberg (Contemporary jazz, World Music)

Les Ancêtres - Arno Kristensen (Contemporary Jazz, World Music)

Where does this music come from?

The music we play explores our ethno-cultural roots and what it means to learn beyond your natural born musical tradition. Both Arno and Thomas have received a world class education in playing both jazz and classical music. This serves as the foundation as they revisit folk melodies that have been passed down from musician-to-musician for generations.
