A gifted jazz guitarist with an affinity for world music traditions.
Southern California born Thomas Blumberg first started working in the professional music scene of Los Angeles in the 2010's.
Since then, he has grown into one of the most regularly performing guitarists in California in both his projects and as a sought after side man.

Music

I am born and raised in Southern California so all of my music is rooted in American traditions (Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Pop). I have had the privilege of studying with many of the masters that call Los Angeles home. My parents were educators and administrators in the CalState system so I began my studies in elementary school with the professors in those institutions. One of my best friends growing up is an 11th generation Indian Classical musician and Tabla player. Being around his family growing up allowed me to learn about their music, but also opened up my view to all different types of world music. This inspired me to learn music from my own ethnocultural background (Germanic-Bach, Puerto Rican-Latin Music, Jewish traditions both in and out of the United States). My group frequently features masters of their own traditions from around the world. The music I play in performances serves as a platform for us to share and learn about these different musical and cultural traditions.
