Host

The Boston Philharmonic is opening up their season featuring music by 3 of the greatest composers who ever lived (and whose surnames all begin with the letter B 😂): Beethoven, Brahms, and Bartok. For this one, they're bringing back the esteemed soloist and former Concert Master of the Berliner Philharmoniker, Guy Braunstein, who will be performing Brahms' illustrious Violin Concerto. AND, as if that wasn't enough to be a surefire draw, Boston Phil's very own conductor, Benjamin Zander will give a free "guide to the music" lecture in Symphony Hall prior to the concert, beginning at 1:45! His enthusiastic and engaging lectures on music aren't one to miss! Check out his TED talk here.

Here's what conductor Benjamin Zander has to say about the program:

"We begin the season with Brahms's beloved Violin Concerto. The work couples, in a way virtually unique to Brahms, extreme rigor with passionate expansiveness—qualities that Guy Braunstein, former concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, demonstrated unforgettably in his performance of the Elgar Violin Concerto with us last season. Bartók's joyous and thrilling Concerto for Orchestra is a showcase for every section in the orchestra—a final, exultant affirmation of life by a dying composer whose spirit, even at the end, remained undimmed."

We only have a limited number of discounted tickets to this fabulous concert, so get yours today before they fly!

Children ages 5 and up are welcomed. Seating will be assigned. Groupmuse ticket buyers are instructed to pick up their tickets at Will Call prior to the performance.

Groupmusers requiring ADA wheelchair accessible seating are asked to email [email protected] ahead of time so that we can accommodate the seats.
