Join us for an evening of musical exploration for this spring's Massivemuse at Monument SF! Surrounded by a warm community, prepare to embark on a journey of sonic delights as three ensembles offer a glimpse into the rich tapestry of global music.

🎼 Our evening begins with the enchanting melodies of Amy Ahn, whose mastery of the harp transcends borders. From European classical compositions to the captivating rhythms of Asian folk music, Ahn's performance promises to captivate and inspire.

🎹 Next, immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of Beethoven's Piano Trio in Bb major, Archduke, Op. 97, expertly interpreted by Jon Lee, Yip Wai Chow, and Ayoun Kim.

🎻 And to conclude our evening on a high note, an electrifying performance by two-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Mads Tolling alongside pianist Colin Hogan. Drawing from their acclaimed 🇩🇰 Danish-American Songbook, Mads and Colin effortlessly blend the melodies of Denmark's folk heritage with the vibrant rhythms of American jazz.

🍸 Sip a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase, or feel free to BYOB!

What's the music?

Jon Lee Piano
Amy Ahn (she/her) Harp
Colin Hogan Piano

Opener:
- Amy Ahn (Harp)

First half:
- Beethoven's Piano Trio in Bb major ("Archduke"), Op. 97 (Jon Lee, Alex Kim, Yip-Wai Chow)

Second half:
- Violinist, Mads Tolling and pianist, Colin Hogan will perform their new music program: The Danish-American Songbook.

Mads grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark. Having lived in the US for over twenty years now, he still enjoys integrating the beautiful melodies from his home country.

Those include the once most performed song in the World, “Tango Jalousie” by Jacob Gade and famed singer songwriter, Kim Larsen’s “Om Lidt.” Denmark is known for its folk music tradition, and Mads will perform a medley of old Danish folk tunes, one of which the lyrics were created by Hans Christian Andersen. Found in every Mads and Colin show is the love for the tradition of American jazz.

Amy Ahn's full program:

  • Ahn “Bird’s Eye View”
  • Tournier Sonatine for Harp Op. 30
  • Ahn “Dandelion Yellow”
  • Chinese Folk Song “Amid Flowers Beside the River Under a Spring Moon”
  • Caroline Lizotte “Suite Galactique, Op. 39”

Where does this music come from?
