Come enjoy an afternoon of solo baroque lute music accompanied by tea and some baked treats at our apartment right by the Malden Center T stop! We hope you can join us!
What's the music?
This program is an intimate and elegant journey through the solo lute music of 17th and 18th century France and Germany. Passionate works of the high German Baroque by contemporaries of Bach like Sylvius Leopold Weiss and Ernst Gottlieb Baron are juxtaposed against the harmonic inventiveness and fluid dance styles of earlier French composers like Jacques Gallot and Denis Gaultier.
David Kellner (1670 –1748):
Phantasia
Jacques Gallot (c.1625-c.1695):
Tombeau du Mareschal de Thurenne
La Nopce
Denis Gaultier (c.1603-1672):
Tombeau de Monsieur de Lenclos
La Consolation aux Amis de Sr. Lenclos
La Resolution des amis de Sr. Lenclos sur la Morte
Gallot:
La Belle Magnifique
L'Altesse Royale
Adam Franz Ginter (1661-1706):
Allemande
Courante
Sarabande
Sylvius Leopold Weiss (1687 – 1750):
Allemande
Courante
Sarabande
Gaultier:
Phaethon foudroye
Minerve
Sarabande
Ernst Gottlieb Baron (1696-1760):
Prelude
Allemande
Courante
Kellner:
