It's time to explore the rich repertoire of the solo flute as well as discover the haunting timber of the alto flute! Repertoire will feature both classical and contemporary eras, with a broad range of composer representation and experiences. I want to guide you through all that the flute can do when it's in the spotlight- whether it be dynamic flurries of notes, improvisational lines conversing with electronic sound, flutter tongue and extended techniques, or serene moments of quiet peace and soft melody. And if you've never heard the alto flute before- now is the time. It often hides in large orchestral pieces, but as a solo instrument its lower registers are profound. I have quite a few stories to tell through my selections, and I hope that you can join to experience them with me.
Thank you so much for joining my first Groupmuse! I am a new resident of Providence, RI, and want to christen the apartment with this wonderful event. I have run previous livestreams for my social media community, and am thrilled to open up the space to those frequenting Groupmuse. Please come say hi- I would love to meet some new faces!
