About

I have been playing all my life, but in the last 15 years I became a venue owner (The Back Room in Berkeley) and for all that time my performing has been restricted to our own stage. And it's a great stage! But I'm starting to get stir crazy -- I want to get out and play other places.

Music

My repertoire reflects the whole range of 20th century American music, from blues to be-bop, and from ragtime to rock'n'roll. I often say that I specialize in bluesy jazz, but that I am careful to include an equal amount of jazzy blues. And let's not forget country and honky-tonk. And, oh yeah, I am apparently the only bluegrass piano player in the world.
