About

I am a classically trained vocalist. I sing many styles and genres, including jazz, pop, musical theater, and sacred music. I have a special love for the jazz tradition and I draw inspiration from such vocalists as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, Peggy Lee, Jo Stafford, and Astrud Gilberto. I currently sing with multiple groups, including the Jazz Mob and the Karolyn Dudro Quintet.

Music

I sing many styles of music but jazz is my favorite. Jazz was born from the synthesis of African rhythm and European harmony. This mirrors how disparate cultures have come together in America. In the words of trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis, "Jazz music is America's past and its potential, summed up and sanctified and accessible to anybody who learns to listen to, feel, and understand it. The music can connect us to our earlier selves and to our better selves-to-come. It can remind us of where we fit on the time line of human achievement, an ultimate value of art."
