About
Simona and Galen have come together to create original music from their own disparate musical backgrounds. Finding empowerment in the act of experimenting and creating new music, while staying true to the essence of their traditional forms,Folk Rebels as a new musical project, an ode to finding yourself in the fog of possibilities and the pressures of outside perspectives
Music
The music of Folk Rebels draws primarily from Hindustani classical music and Eastern European folk music. Both traditions follow an innate connection with the natural cycles of our environment: days, nights, seasons, and solstices. As two artists who follow their own innate and authentic rhythms, Simona and Galen readapt these timeless melodies into their own sound, utilizing complex harmonies, improvisation and experimentation.
