About
Elaine is a Korean-American classical pianist and chamber musician residing in San Francisco. She has won several piano competitions in the Bay Area, and performed at masterclasses and music festivals throughout the US and France.
She currently works on inauthentic behavior at Meta as a project manager, and spends her free time practicing taekwondo and hot yoga, painting, watching movies, and traveling.
Music
Elaine started piano lessons at age 5, and made her symphony debut in 2013 performing Rachmaninoff's 2nd concerto. She studied primarily with John McCarthy at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College. She then studied with Amy Yang at the Curtis Institute while receiving her BA in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania, and with Anthony Byrne at the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she completed a graduate certificate.
Most recently, she performed solo works by Beethoven and Schumann, chamber works by Brahms and Stravinsky, and debuted new composer pieces at the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Zodiac Festival in Nice, France.
She currently performs gigs in SF as a solo pianist, as a duo with her brother Andrew, as part of the Van Ness Trio.
