Fanya Lin
Pianist
About
The New York Times described Fanya Lin’s playing as “Daunting yet seductive, shimmering sustained tones, punctuated in unison in this dazzlingly persuasive concert” after her performance at Alice Tully Hall.
Fanya was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She began formal piano study at age four, and even in her youth dreamed of becoming a concert pianist. As a recipient of the Edna Ione Hall Scholarship and Presser Foundation Scholarship Award, Fanya enrolled at Weber State University to study with Dr. Yu-Jane Yang in 2008. Currently, Fanya is a Master's student at The Juilliard School, studying with professor Hung-Kuan Chen and professor Jerome Lowenthal.
Fanya has been selected as a top prizewinner in numerous piano competitions including Russian Music International Piano Competition, Seattle International Piano Competition, New York International Piano Competition, and Beethoven Club International Piano Competition. Since coming to the United States, Fanya has performed with Aurora Symphony, Grand Junction Symphony, Utah Symphony, and Savannah Philharmonic. Furthermore, Fanya was invited as a guest artist for Sid & Mary Foulger International Music Festival, and appointed as the collaborative pianist for New York International Piano Competition. As an interactive performer for The Gluck Fellowship at Juilliard, Fanya has given performances at rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, trauma units, and other healthcare facilities in New York. Fanya was described as a “striking interpreter” who gives a “committed and heartfelt performance.” –Musical America, New York Times
