Originally from Sydney, Australia, Richard is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree at the University of Michigan. He received his MM from Juilliard and BM from Northwestern University. Richard has been playing the cello since age five, and loves to perform all kinds of repertoire written for the instrument, equally at ease with Bach and Beethoven as he is with Webern and Saariaho. He is particularly interested in community engagement and innovation, and is constantly thinking about ways to bring classical music to a wider audience.
