About

Dawn Kim is a violinist pursuing her Master of Music at The Juilliard School, under the tutelage of Joseph Lin. She started the violin at age 6 in South Korea and began studying at Juilliard pre-college with Hyo Kang and I-Hao Lee at 12. In 2022, Dawn completed her Bachelor of Music at Juilliard with Laurie Smukler. She has received input from esteemed professors such as Almita Vamos, David Chan, Petru Munteanu, Ani Schnarch, Pierre Amoyal, and Itzhak Rashkovsky.
As a lover of chamber music, Dawn has attended festivals such as the Yellowbarn young artist program and the Bowdoin music festival. She has also had chamber coachings with previous and current members of the Juilliard string quartet, Mark Steinberg of the Brentano quartet, and members of the Shanghai Quartet and Meta4 quartet. Other festivals attended include the Pablo Casals festival in France, the Singapore violin festival, Incheon Hic et Nunc in South Korea, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
