Moira Murphy

About
I am a vocalist, pianist, composer, and arranger with a love for both innovative cross-disciplinary art and older musical forms. I received my MM in Vocal Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and my BA in Piano and Voice from Emory & Henry College.
I am currently focused on presenting my chamber recital "Sisters of Light," featuring my arrangements of the works of Hildegard von Bingen and Kassia.
I have worked as an opera singer and soloist for opera companies, collectives, and orchestras around the country. Experiences have included originating the title role and stage directing the new opera "Locust," by composer Anne Guzzo in Wyoming, Morocco, and Scotland; soprano soloist for multiple orchestral works with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra; presenting a multidisciplinary arts salon series in Denver; and working as a choral singer, cantor, section leader, vocal coach, and pianist for churches in Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois, and Colorado.
Music
(Note: I have mostly performed under my legal name, Cristin Colvin. However, I am now performing as a chamber artist under my stage name, Moira Murphy.)
