About

Hailed by the New York Times as “Sophisticated and Beguiling” and praised by the Los Angeles Times for their “astonishingly vital music-making," the award-winning, New York-based ensemble, REBEL (pronounced “Re-BEL”) is one of North America’s top-tier ensembles specializing in 17th- & 18th-century repertoire performed on period instruments. The ensemble feels equally at home onstage at Carnegie Hall, at schools, museums, libraries and of course, in livingrooms, where the artists can mingle with audiences in a personal, informal way. It's all good! Spreading joy through music is our mission.

Music

Our repertoire is vast, and spans the early, high and late baroque to classical.
We perform works of known composers such as J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Corelli and Telemann, Mozart, C.P. E. Bach, J.C. Bach and Haydn to lesser-known and obscure (but great) composers such as Rossi, Biber, Fux, Gallo, Marini, Stoelzel, Legrenzi, Storace, Holzbauer, Edelmann and Goldberg. Each program will delight our audiences with familiar works played in a vibrant new way, as well as new, exciting discoveries of rarely- if ever- performed music of the baroque and classical eras.We take great pleasure in bringing these neglected but fabulous works to life.
