Valentin Kovalev
Saxophone
About
Hey! My name is Valentin and I love sharing music through my saxophone. Thanks to my international background, I had a chance to connect with multicultural audiences on different continents. Some of my favorite halls so far are Carnegie Hall's Weil Recital Hall (that I am going to return in next season with a solo recital) and the beautiful hall of Zhenjiang Conservatory of Music in Hangzhou (China). I am looking forward to connecting with more people and exploring the unknown territories of music through the sounds of a modern saxophone.
Music
I am a classically trained musician who received an education from the most prestigious places in the world: Paris Conservatory and the University of Michigan. I enjoy playing transcriptions from violin, cello, flute, etc., as it opens up so much freedom for me to explore the repertoire and the composers that otherwise would not be possible to approach. I enjoy playing music from Bach to Mozart, from Beethoven to Schumann, from Tchaikovsky to Rachmaninov, some contemporary composers with their creativity to discover new sounds, and, of course, I could not survive without playing some of my favorite songs.
