About
I perform jazz and blues in various venues in Western Massachusetts as a soloist and in duo, trio, quartet, and quintet configurations. You will find me performing in purely instrumental ensembles, as a vocalist accompanying myself or being supported by a full jazz ensemble, and as an accompanist to other vocalists. My formal education is a BFA in classical piano performance from S.U.N.Y. Buffalo. Since then I have explored jazz music. Blues has been an integral part of my musical journey from the beginning. Musical inspiration has come from many quarters, including Impressionist and early 20th century composers. Pianists Bill Evans, Keith Jarret, Oscar Peterson, Earl Hines, Errol Garner, and Thelonius Monk have all contributed to my musical and jazz aesthetic and inspiration.
Music
I perform jazz - straight ahead, bebop, standards, American Songbook, modal, plus my own compositions - and blues influenced jazz from artists that include Cole Porter, Miles Davis, Rogers and Hart, Mose Allison, Thelonius Monk, Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, Gershwin, Sondheim, and Bernstein, to name just a few.
