About

I'm a passionate classical pianist studying at The Juilliard School for my Masters Degree in piano performance with the phenomenal Julian Martin. My story has been serendipitously blessed throughout my career, especially since I did not grow up with any rigorous musical training. My early years were spent purely in the enjoyment of listening to the music of Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and especially Bach, Schumann, and Debussy. My first public recital was at the age of 17, and my first competition was as a freshman in college. Despite these apparent setbacks, my undergrad at the University of Kansas was a remarkable time of growth, culminating in national piano competition grand prizes, multiple orchestral appearances, and the esteemed Presser Award and Scholarship. And now I'm in NYC studying at my dream school and am absolutely thrilled about the future!

Music

I usually perform works from the late 17th century to the mid-20th century encompassing composers like Scarlatti, Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and Eliot Carter (just to provide a severely abridged list). I prepare music that interests me, either in its raw emotional power, its relation within a program, or its importance socio-culturally. This interest is then (with any luck) fully conveyed to the audiences, both in the performance and talks given about the program. My hope is to not only stimulate the heart, but also the mind with my programming, seeking to showcase gems of the piano literature that may not have as much notoriety.
