About
After an immersive two years in school and in the New York City composition circle, Giovanni earned his M.A. in Composition graduating with honors. He edited works for guitar commissioned by Sharon Isbin and David Starobin. During this time, Giovanni wrote his first symphonic work, “Animus”, which wwhich was performed by the MSM symphony orchestra under the baton of Dr. David Gilbert.
Since then, Giovanni has been very active as a composer receiving commissions from a variety of ensembles including the harp duo, “Duo Scorpio” in NYC, the Irish violin and viola duet “Collailm Duo”, renowned violinist Tim Fain (with who he is currently recording an upcoming album featuring a new word for Violin and Guitar) the concert series “Music of Reality” in Boston, MA, and the “Mexiam” festival in San Francisco, CA.
He is currently pursuing a PhD degree in Music Composition at the University of California Los Angeles where he is a Teaching Fellow in music theory and aural skills.
Music
A self described "Genre Fluid" performer, Giovanni includes an eclectic mix of pieces ranging from standard classical repertoire (Albeniz, Tarrega, Sor), to more modern composers like Brouwer, Oliva and York. He showcases his compositions as well as arrangements of pieces from tango, flamenco and even traditional folk songs from different regions of the world.
