About
Born in 1999, German/Austrian violist Emma Wernig grew up in Los Angeles, California. A prizewinner in many competitions, Emma recently received the ‘Barbirolli Prize’ at the 2019 Tertis International Viola Competition. As a result of winning the 2017 Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition, she will release a debut CD of Austrian Viola works on the Champs Hill label alongside pianist Albert Cano-Smit in early 2021. She has been a part of Krzyzowa Music, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Verbier Festival Academy, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, IMS Prussia Cove, and Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival.
Emma’s greatest passion lies in chamber music, having collaborated with artists such as Lynn Harrell, Viviane Hagner, Anthony Marwood, Andrew Marriner, Ida Kavafian, Misha Amory, and Clive Greensmith. As a part of the “Incendium Quartet” she won the 2015 Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition and continued to win numerous other chamber competitions.
