Andrew Sehmann
French Hornist
About
I'm a french horn player from Central Kentucky who has studied under various members of the Lexington Philharmonic, Jacksonville Philharmonic, Virginia Symphony, and New York Philharmonic. I've won three separate concerto competitions in the area, including the Borchardt Concerto award from the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra when I was 16. I have played in various festival orchestras such as the Brevard Festival Orchestra and Eastern Music Festival Orchestra. In addition to orchestral music, I have played with a number of brass quintets. My main brass quintet is the Madison Brass based in Richmond, KY where we play both standards in addition to more jazz related choices.
In addition to playing, I have been asked to do lectures, and recitals in both Boston and New Orleans. In New Orleans, I played and did a small lecture series about the French horn in Jazz literature, and improvisation.
