Eganam
Trumpet
About
I was born in Lagos Nigeria to Ghanaian parents and moved to New York City when I was 10 with my family after my mother won the immigration visa lottery. I started playing the trumpet in the 5th grade as a way to hide my “pigeon English” accent and fell in love with performing arts and now, I’m enjoying the humble beginnings of an wonderful journey as a musician. I was the winner of the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition while completing my Masters of Music degree in classical trumpet at Manhattan School of Music. I was also a recipient of the South Carolina State University full band scholarship during my undergraduate studies as a music education major, and was part of the first graduating class of Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music. The philosophy I’ve grown to live my life by is, “inspiration without perspiration is hallucination,” and through that philosophy I share my musical journey with the world.
Music
Standard Classical repertoire and arrangements of popular songs.
