About

Joe DeAngelo is a violinist, composer, and recording artist based in Chicago, IL. He graduated in May 2019 from the Chicago College of Performing Arts with a bachelor’s degree in music performance under the tutelage of Almita Vamos and Frank Almond, Joe now performs as a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and in the past has joined notable ensembles such as the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and the Chicago Composer's Orchestra. Joe has also shared the stage in chamber music performance with renowned artists such as Jeffrey Kahane and Alex Kerr. Outside of classical music, Joe is an active performer and composer/songwriter in the genres of jazz, rock, and bluegrass. He regularly performs with the Spanish rock band Calaveras LD and the jazz-bluegrass band Android Mandela.

Music

I specialize in 20th and 21st century music, and my favorite composers include Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Prokofiev. I also thoroughly enjoy performing the classic romantic composers like Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Tchaikovsky. I usually program my concerts to have a balance between old and new music so that there is something for everyone to enjoy!
