About
I was born and brought up in the UK and began to perform while working as a family doctor in central London. As well as oratorio work I loved the intimate setting of chamber music and had a longstanding duo with pianist William Hancox where we championed the works of living composers. I set medicine aside and turned to singing full-time, moving to Los Angeles in 2008. Since then I have been performing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale at Disney Hall, as soloist and chorister, have continued my work as an oratorio soloist and sung on many soundtracks as a session musician. I formed a trio four years ago, we won the Beverly Hills International Competition in 2015 and have performed all over Los Angeles. Now known as Tritone, we continue to champion the works of local, living composers.
Music
As well as performing all the standard oratorio repertoire as a soloist (top favorites being Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah and anything by Bach), when singing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and often the LA Philharmonic, as well as standard repertoire, we explore music by 21st century musicians and work in tandem with these composers to bring their sound world to life. That is what I like to do in the more intimate chamber setting too, bringing 20th and 21st century music to audiences, and working with local composers.
