About
A charismatic and virtuosic musician, flutist Audra Ziegel has performed at back-to-back National Flute Association Conventions, as well as recent performances throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Tennessee. Other engagements include regular guest artist appearances at Towson University and performing as co-principal flute of the 2019 International Fellowship of Conductors, Composers, and Collaborators. Audra was a winner of the 2018 NFA Convention Performers Competition, the 2017 Flute Society of Washington Masterclass Competition, and was a quarterfinalist in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition in 2009. Audra frequently performs as a solo artist with pianist and husband, Aaron Ziegel. They excel at providing exciting and engaging performances of both well-known classical masterpieces, as well as discovering and promoting lesser-known works for flute and piano. Audra holds a MM in Flute Performance from Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Music
I perform a variety of classical repertoire from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century eras. When programing recitals, I try to pick repertoire that is approachable, engaging, memorable, and melodic. Favorite composers for flute include Philippe Gaubert, Maurice Ravel, Astor Piazzolla, Malcolm Arnold, and Aaron Copland. Lesser-known composers that I love include Lita Grier, Blaz Pucihar, and Sigfrid Karg-Elert.
