Two Button Brass
Brass Quintet
About
Two Button Brass was born from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music Scholarship Brass Quintet. The quintet, hand-picked from each brass studio at USC, tackles the most challenging music in the brass quintet repertoire. In addition to performing regular outreach and educational concerts free of charge in the Los Angeles area, the ensemble has been featured at USC with the USC choirs, the Trojan Brass Choir, and the Music at Rush Hour series.

Music
Our program features jazz and popular music arranged by our own members including a unique medley of Frank Sinatra’s greatest hits. We balance out the program with staples from the brass quintet repertoire: pieces such as Anthony Plog’s “Four Sketches” and Eric Ewazen’s “Frostfire”. We are also proud to premiere the music of Los Angeles trumpeter and composer Aaron Smith, with whom we have worked closely to execute his piece “Episode II” according to his vision. This exhilarating blend of time-tested classics, unique popular music arrangements, and cutting edge contemporary works will invite and challenge listeners to a wide spectrum brass sounds. You will not want to miss this show!
