Kathryn McKellar
Soprano
About
Commended by The Boston Globe for her "elegant singing" and "polish," Kathryn McKellar has distinguished herself as a "visually and vocally stunning performer" in Opera, Musical Theater, and Concert alike.
She performs regularly with Boston Lyric Opera, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Odyssey Opera, and is founder/co-director of Opera on Tap Boston. Last season she returned to Boston Lyric Opera for their 40th season in Carmen, The Rakes Progress, and Le Nozze di Figaro. This season she makes debuts with Opera Theater of Cape Cod as Micaela in Tragedie de Carmen and with Cambridge Chamber Opera in the title role of Pauline Viardot-Garcia’s Cendrillon. Most recently she created the role of Lina Cavalieri in Divas, a new work by Laura Neil, and was given special praise by the Boston Globe for her "sweet and slightly sapphic "Si, mi chiamano Mimi."
Kathryn holds a Masters of Music from the Boston Conservatory.
Music
I usually sing classical repertoire; specifically opera, oratorio, art song, and chamber music. I'm singing a lot of Bel-Canto repertoire, but I still love early music and new music. My favorite programs are curated to perfectly fit with a venue and audience.
