Cristian Garcia
Classical Guitar
About
Cristian Garcia is not your typical story of a classical musician born and bred from a young age. A native of Los Angeles and born to Salvadorian parents, Cristian discovered the guitar at the age of 17 while listening to Spanish music from the Baroque and 19th Centuries. Starting from scratch and working out of several method books, he taught himself to read music and some rudimentary technique. Through the guidance of first teacher, James Hunley, he developed the passion and discipline necessary for the guitar and eventually went on to study with John Dearman of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, David Leisner at the Manhattan School of Music, and finally Ignacio Rodes in Alicante, Spain. Now he spends his time teaching, performing, commissioning, and traveling. On faculty at Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
Music
My repertoire spans from early music to contemporary. I dabble with pop, rock, jazz as well. But mostly for fun!
