Music

I've played the standard cello repertoire and I think that it's fantastic. However, my main interest is new "classical" music. I love pairing traditional repertoire alongside new masterpieces to draw out parallels between them, helping lower the barrier of entry to high-quality new music. I'm pretty convinced that the classical music being written today is the best it's ever been, and that there's so much that there's something for everyone.

For example:

JS Bach: Cello Suite #2: I. Prelude | Kaija Saariaho: Sept Papillons: II (2000)
JS Bach: Cello Suite #2: II. Allemande | Gyorgy Kurtag: Kroo Gyorgy In Memoriam (1997)
JS Bach: Cello Suite #2: III. Courante | Nicholas Deyoe: Another Anxiety (2011)
--
JS Bach: Cello Suite #2: IV. Sarabande | Lera Auerbach: Lonely Suite: I transcr. Moore (2003)
JS Bach: Cello Suite #2: V. Gavottes | Luciano Berio: Les Mots Sont Alles (1976)
JS Bach: Cello Suite #2: VI. Gigue | Bright Sheng: Seven Tunes Heard In China: VII (1999)
