Isabel Kwon
Cello
About
Isabel completed her undergraduate degree in cello performance with Honors at the University of Michigan in 2012, where she was awarded a full scholarship and recently completed her Master of Music at The Juilliard School. During her first year at the school, Isabel was named co-principal cellist of The Juilliard Orchestra and has played under maestros Alan Gilbert, Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, Gerard Schwarz, and Edo de Waart. An avid chamber musician, her quartet at Juilliard, The Ansonia Quartet, was a Juilliard Honors Chamber group, and engaged with the community through a Gluck Community Service Fellowship by The Juilliard School. They have also toured Japan and taught Japanese school children about the string quartet. The Ansonia Quartet performed Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro with the Juilliard Chamber Orchestra and presented full concert at MoMA’s summer garden series.
Isabel has also collaborated with Grammy award winning bandoneon player Hector del Curto in playing tango.
