About
Hi, I'm Natalie! I am a pianist originally from New England. Growing up, I developed and expanded as a pianist at New England Conservatory, where I participated in the preparatory school division full program. It is there that, as a teenager, I discovered my ultimate love as a classical musician---performing chamber music.
Eventually, I chose to move away from the traditional conservatory atmosphere. I embarked on a western migration, to complete my undergraduate in performance at Brigham Young University.
Since then, my interest in live improvisation-based works has been re-ignited, and much of my time at the piano is spent working on my own compositions.
I also enjoy sharing my love of music with students. Currently, I am the Director of Piano Studies at Hoffman Academy of Music in Portland.
Music
I am interested in exploring and sharing music that stirs the soul. As a classical pianist, my deepest passion is performing Bach, but of course there are many, many more composers whose works I love performing--Brahms, Schubert, Janacek, Shostakovich, Granandos, and Debussy--to name just a few.
I also perform live free improvisations, in which the piece is created on the spot. I take the music where it feels it wants to go.
