About

Sarah Whitnah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from St. Olaf College, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Denver where she studied with violinist Linda Wang. During her time at St. Olaf College she toured both domestically and internationally with the St. Olaf Orchestra, serving as it’s Concert Master from 2007-2008. She continues her orchestral involvement currently holding titled positions in both the Fort Collins and Cheyenne Symphonies. Taking an active role in supporting new music and today’s emerging composers, Whitnah performs as the principal violinist for the new music chamber ensemble, The Playground Ensemble, artists-in-residence at Colorado Metro State University. Ms. Whitnah has also performed with notable contemporary artists including, Glee’s Daren Criss, Kygo, Tina Guo, and Manheim Steamroller this Fall 2018. Additionally, Whitnah maintains a private teaching studio at her home in Arvada, CO, where she lives with her husband and small dachshund.

Music

Classical violin repertoire, spanning all eras with special interest in Romantic, Impressionistic, and Contemporary music. Some of my favorite composers include Debussy, Shostakovich, Benjamin Britten, and contemporary composers we may not have heard yet!
